The aim of the Tartu Pioneers’ Avenue is to credit persons related to Tartu or Tartu County who have by their work or some act contributed significantly to the development, presentation or recognition of the town or county. An important aspect is acknowledging recent years’ achievements.
Criteria for selecting a Pioneer of Tartu:
• candidates related to the town of Tartu or Tartu County may be submitted;
• candidates who have contributed significantly to the development, presentation or recognition of the town or county may be submitted.
For 2010, the Spirit of Tartu, Herta Elviste, Andres Metspalu and Hannes Kaljujärv were selected as Pioneers of Tartu.
